Electric. Here anyway had a couple up around some oats plots and one plot with regular fence. Seems like the electric plots had less deer activity and would actually be knocked down at times. IE I don't think they saw that slick wire as easy and then got zapped.

FWIW I have an electric collar for my lab. He does not like the collar, doesn't take much to teach him as needed. And all our dogs have been zapped by our electric fences while going under. They don't cross those fences very often yet they know the difference between elec and not.

Finally as mentioned there is the maintenance. Lightning takes our charger at times. And you have to keep the grass and brush free of the fence or it'll not only ground out but possibly catch fire if its really dry.
