No peep sights are not more accurate than other iron sights, the sourdough for example. They are not faster than the British "express" sights found on doubles for dangerous game. What they are is a way around an old man's inability to focus one several items quickly. The aperature close to the eye sharpens the front sight and allows him to shoot quickly and accurately.
If you buy a good scope to begin with, removal is unnecessary in the field, so quick detatchable mounts are just another gadget.
