For bigger game like groundhogs and coyotes even though the .22LR shouldnt be used on yotes.
.22LR Stinger - 32gr Bullet
.22LR Velocitor - 40gr Bullet
IMO, the velocitor would be better for groundhog + at a max range of 100yd because of the heavier built bullet. Between these 2, which do y'all think I should shoot?
Neither one! First off, as you noted, the 22LR is too light for coyotes. Yes, it will kill them with decent hits, but for quick/humane kills something with more power is needed.
As for the groundhogs, I think the CCI Stinger would likely prove to be more effective due to the bullet disign which I think is a little more "explosive" (for lack of better description).
In any case, your max. range is too far for use with 22LR. Keep your shots down to approx. 50yds., 75yd. max.
I found, when I tried using 22LR on rockchucks (sort of western version of your woodchucks/groundhogs) that I got the best results using Remingtons Yellow Jackets,
and within 75yds.
No matter how you cut it, there just isn't much bullet weight/energy to be had from a
22LR, so keeping the ranges close is best. Better, would be to move up to a 22mag.
