Today, 4/29/05, i shot my first tom!! i live here in wisconsin. turkey hunted once last fall (got my first hen.) well here's the story, first day i went out on thursday, no gobble all morning untill i headed back toward some thick cover and i had a nice one gobblin. he came in about 40 yards and hung up, i think he saw me move, because i was hiding behind a small tree. so he took off. The rest of that day, didn't see a thing. or hear. So, this morning i headed out a little later, around 7:20 and headed back to where i called this one in, but for some reason i decided to go a little farther back. so i went about 100yards farther west. and before i set my dekes out. (big mistake) i decided to give a call, low and behold i hear a gobble bout 120 yards to the west. So i quickly set up 2 dekes (jake and hen) and set up. When i called again he was at about 90 yards. Before i knew it he was at 50 yards and closing. at about 40 yards he finaly see's my dekoy, and starts struttin. i let him come in a bit more, and at 30 yards i let him have it. What a rush!!! it was amazing! i was all by my self. Never had anyone teach me how to call, i just had alot of help from everyone on here. So i'd just like to give special thanx to all of you that helped me, and gave me advice. It really helped a whole lot!!!!!! i also want to thank anyone on here who is nice enough to help new turkey hunters like me. I am completely hooked on turkeys!! lol. Thank you, all of you. It was 22lbs, 10 inch beard, with 1 inch spirs.

thanx
Kyle
