Default RE: What deer gun caliber?

The win m70 is a good gun. I have one as well as a savage. The savage is a little more accurate out of the box. Both good guns. the winny just looks better. Either gun is great and you can't go wrong. IN fact, at walmart, they are the same price under $400 with a cheap scope and sling.

the .270 is a good choice too for deer. However as others mentioned, the 30.06 is a little more versitile. and the recoil is not much more then the .270 IMO. I use my 30.06 for deer as well as my 7mm-08 (which is one of the best deer calibers IMO). they both take down deer, but the 30.06 will allow me to hunt bigger game if the need ever arises. Also, bullet weights are more plentiful with the 06. Ammo is cheap too and everyone has it.
