Default Weed eater string

One of the members of this board (I can't remember who) suggested using weed eater string to increase the weight of arrows by putting it inside the shaft. Sounded like a good idea at first, so I tried it out.

I would not recommend doing this! I used pieces approximately 3/16" long weighing 2 grains. Everytime I shot, the piece travels inside the shaft and blows the nock out of the arrow on impact with the target.[:'(]

A couple of drinking straws inside a shaft gave me the weight I needed, and do not seem to provide the same results. I need to do more shooting to be sure.

The person who recommended this had good intentions, and I thought it was a good idea at first, but finding nocks on the garage floor is a pain in the butt everytime I shoot.

Any other homegrown ideas on how to add a couple grains to arrows?
