Default RE: sniper rifle for hunting?

ORIGINAL: Ruddyduck

You guys really miss the point. Sniper Rifle is the next term to be used by those that want you firearms like Assault Rifle was.
I hunt with darn good rifles. My Rem 700 DBM in 7 Rem Mag and my VS in 22.250 are terrific shooters and put factory fodder into the same hole (1/8" - 3/16" groups regularly) when I do my bit. Are they "sniper " rifles no ,but what does that really mean. To the gun grabbers it's any scoped high power rifles. I'd like to kick the powers that be in the gun industry in the family jewels and slap someone when they use terms like that to decribe thier products.
It's not just the gun industry, but many groups. Remember the DC sniper(s)? It was a disgrace that these clowns had such a name attached to them by the media. But that is how the public thinks of snipers and sniper rifles. That is, that any gun loving American can slap a scope on a AR15 and become some ultimate, deadly sniper. No wonder the public will listen to attempts to ban "sniper" weapons.

And you are certainly correct the BS that some are using to define a "sniper rifle" is as silly as the assault weapon faisco. If it has a scope and a target or fluted barrel then it's too deadly for the general public! BS!
