The setting of "9" was the lighting level of the red dot. I learned from south Florida about the lighting levels that by the time of day I needed more power in the scope. Note: I have to test this as I go, I'm no expert. I just hold up the gun and look thru the scope and check as time and weather conditions dictate. I've found that leve #9 is okay unless you really have alot of sun shine, or your battery is low. ( I learned this the hard way). Have spares and have the access to the batterie easy to open just in case.

But, man oh man, I love that scope more than I can express. For me, the proof is in the photos. I know have my families top shelf cat. due to it.
