Used a H.S. Undertaker with #5 just like you said.
As for how close, under 15yards on a dead run. Don't know what spooked him but, something did and he took off a runing. Sorry, but I wasn't letting this one go. had the scope pre set at 9 just in case and hit him on a dead run.
