I've been into making my own strikers for a while now. Try one with a dried up corn cob.

Just bore a 3/8" hole down through the center and glue in a 3/8" dowel. Make sure you stain and varnish the dowel first, it looks good against the corncob.

It means a little more when you made the call that you get him with.
Amen. Gotta love taking a bird with items you personally crafted. A corn corb works very well too atop a striker.
