Spyro, Spyro, ..... Whoa there buddy!
I'm a big believer in getting this very issue, the one you initially brought up, established and clear among all members of the camp well in advance of the hunt (party hunt or no party hunt --- the subject needs broached in advance so everyone is on the same page). So IMHO, you were really doing a little community service thing bringing it up. BUT, I've found over time you just you gotta be careful with hypotheticals and theoreticals on this forum --- it just don't seem to set too well.
I was gonna jump in here a day or two ago, since things had taken on a "lynch mob" mentality with no evidence to back up the opinions being put forth. I saw that you, like myself from time to time, had gotten yourself in a 10 to 1 matchup (noticed you weren't totally alone though). But since I was gonna try to sit on my hands (since its not my thread) I decided to watch you get yourself into the clear....
Well, okay maybe you "baited" folks a bit with the tickets, fishing, etc. line so as to get them to question whether they were really as "pure as driven snow" as they represented. A fair maneuver, but you gotta understand folks get excited pretty easy.
So you didn't shoot the deer, threw a rock instead, and so a bunch of folks were barking up the wrong tree. On the merits of what I've read, at that point, it can be argued that you win. BUT, BUT, BUT please try to avoid personal attacks (even though it can be argued who started what), it blinds all issues, and really lowers you into the fray, if you can keep it on a 3rd party basis and argue the issues and not the personalities, then I believe your experience with a wide range of firearms and seemingly extensive hunting background could come to the forefront and could be a benefit to some (most?) of us on this forum.

BTW, good luck on your "live aboard" bear hunting trip. Go up to Alaska and smack one of those king sized blackies with a rifle that is "too large", relieve a little tension

, take plenty of pictures (planes, boats, the 100 footer, and the bears) and post an update for us when you get back!
