This is only a requirement for stands that are left on public land for any length of time, which by the way is against the law anyway. You will not be required to put your full name and address on the stand if you put your DNR customer # on the stand. This requirement is to deter hunters from assuming squaters rights to a particular piece of public hunting land that they feel since they have hunted there for 10 years in a row that you can't hunt in the same area. And also in the possible recovery of stolen stands which is a major problem. Yea, it sucks but what do you do, that is the price you pay for hunting on public land and putting trust in your fellow hunters. 99% of hunters are ethecal enough to move on when they notice a hunter in a particular area, but that other 1% you would like to string up by their testicles.
