RE: Official Team 11 **The Purrrrty Boys** Thread
Got a bird this morning! Haha! Redemption for the two misses.
Heres the story...was up early like always. Got to the place where I had missed twice, but moved out farther into the field where the field actually choked down to a narrow 20yrd gap. As it was breaking light I hit the hooter a couple times. Nothing. So I sit there till it gets pretty good light and do a little soft calling. Nothing....I do alittle more calling when I hear a hen answer. I sit there for a few minutes and the call is closer, so I wait. The call is closer again but really scratchy and not in much rythm hardly. I know it's a hunter, so I tell my grandpa its a hunter and we get up to keep pretty boy from being toast. A few minutes the call comes again cept this time it's right at the edge of the meadow. I whistle and the guy steps out into the field. We talk for a few and tell him the field is all his we'll just go across the road to my cousins. So we are back at the road on the wheeler at 6:30am. We take the short ride up the bank where we usually park at to hunt behind my place on the neighbor. We get a couple hundred yards from the gasline right-a-way, and park and walk out. We do a few calls before entering the open and nothing. So we decide we need to get to the high point and do some calling. But as we walk through the the open a bird gobbles in the fields across a small hollar from us. I hit the call and nothing.....hit it again and he gobbles this time obviously closer. I think about going back to get the decoys but my grandpa says we don't have time. so I just against a couple trees in the middle of the rightaway and get ready. My grandpa is 30yrds behind me in a fence line, I reach back and give him the thumbs up. He hits the call and the gobbler cuts him off in the rightaway behind me! I turn my head and there he is, 40 yrds from me in the rightaway looking up towards my grandpa. Somehow I get lucky being left handed, and turn to my right against the tree and shoot...the bird topples over and flops alittle. I run down there and find this bird....... ![]() |

Last pic.....one with the fan out where I shot him. The pic with the decoys was back where we parked the wheeler at. But I got it added to our score and will be back out tomorrow morning for my second.
I guess I will pm Runge and see what happened to him posting up his pictures. We really need to add his score to the board. ![]() |

RE: Official Team 11 **The Purrrrty Boys** Thread
Sorry about the delay guys, I was having some computer problems, and was just able to get my pictures loaded. Here they are.
10 1/2" beard 1 1/4" spurs |
RE: Official Team 11 **The Purrrrty Boys** Thread
Thanks for the pics Runge.
Once mine and yours scores are added in we'll be 5th in the overall all birds counted bracket, and we'll be up in the top 10 on only one bird counts bracket. So very impressive, and if we get two more members with birds down we'll really move up cause we'll be in striking distance of #1. |
