Called in a couple jakes this morning in the rain, I passed on them but as they went passed my grandpa took one. 6" beard, 1/2" spurs, and wet he weighed 19lbs. Decent I guess for a jake, but a bird down and fried turkey breast this weekend! Going again in the am.....this morning would have been good it seemed if the rain had held off.

Thanks....I was basing a lot of my yardage on where my decoys were, but I wasn't letting the bird come all the way to the decoy. Something I have never had a problem with before, but this is the first year I used the scope and I think it was tricking me into shooting too early because it pulled the bird in closer to me through the reticle. If you get what I'm saying....

Still no luck in Missouri for my 2nd bird down there, but have a week left.
Broke one of my rules today and took another hunter with me this morning and called up 8 longbeards in 2 setups and only had my safety off once. The other guy shot one at 10:50 am.
I never take anyone but my wife when I have a tag to fill, after I fill mine then I will take others out and if they screw it up its their bird not mine. Will be going out again in the morning by myself.

I got washed out today....a lot of rain this morning. It's been raining a lot the past couple days....calling for a chance of rain tomorrow but I will still be making an attempt to get out. We'll see how that goes in the morning.

Got my butt handed to me today, damn hens. Still have 7 days in Missouri and till the 17th in Iowa so I am not worried YET.

Almost got washed away last night and this morning......it rained 2 inches in 6 or 7 hrs and flooded my ponds and everything. Hoping the rain is past us now and I can get back out in the morning.

Rain has finally moved out after some big time flooding here this morning. So it looks like I may get out in the morning...not sure how the birds will react after all the rain.
