Well, the Fat Lady has sung. I needed you guys down here to call me in a bird. This is the first season in over 20 that I haven't shot a bird. This tag sandwich I'm having to eat doesn't taste too good. You guys did good. I just wish I could have contributed.

Now that I'm rested up again I'm starting to think about next season. I know Tmbrhunter has a few days left. Does anybody else?

I'm with you Nick. I usually fish 2-3 days a wk. Mostly offshore but some backcountry fishing too. All saltwater.

Well guys today was the final day of the seaon here in NJ I didn't get out as much as i would have liked to due to a new job but i did manage to get out 4 times all season. But it was by far my best year turkey hunting i did it all on my own and i feel like i took a big step forward towards more succesful hunts in the future. This morning turned out fairly well i must say with a bird scoring 24.5625 + 10 + 10 + 20.5 = 65.0625! He was 24.9 lbs with 1 inch spurs and a 10.25 inch beard! Biggest bird i have shot yet. I roosted him last night along with 5 jakes and 2 other gobblers. I was up in the air about bringing my gun or bow but i decided on bringing the gun... good thing i did. They were quiet on the roost and i was beginning to get worried untill i heard the unmistakable sound of a turkey flying down. I set up close within 70 yards of the roosting trees. They hit the ground and all at once let out a roar of gobbles that made my hair stand up. I let out a few small purr's and they all lit off again. Now they are closing the distance and they are doing it fast, 60 yards 50 yards 40 yards and they stop, they know something is up but they see my she mobile decoy and the jakes cant resist they all come waltzing in trying to get theirs from her. The toms see this and they arnt having it. The 3 gobblers run over and i pick the biggest one at about 7 paces and BAM, hes taking a dirt nap and the birds scatter. It was an awsome morning except the skeeters were horrible i could barely hear a thing with all them buzzing in my ear. Pictures are on their way gotta wait for my mother to get home with her camera.
