RE: Team 10 Thread

I have been turkey hunting about 20 years. I completed my GrandSlam last year and have started on Slam #2. Have no idea how many easterns I have killed over the years. I have killed 3 rios, 1 merriams, and 1 osceola.

I will be hunting Nebraskas and Missouri this year. Going out to bow hunt 2 days before the shotgun season opens there and then shotgun hunt for 2 days as well. We can harvest 3 birds there in NE.I will get home late Sunday night just in time to hunt the opener here in MO.

My little boy is 6 and this is going to be his first rodeo with turkeys. I am taking him to TX to try to get a rio the last weekend in March and then our youth hunt in MO is the first week in April. I can't wait.

My heaviest bird since I have been hunting is 27 lbs but he didn't have a great beard.
My longest beard is 12 1/4" on a bow kill.
My f,pstmemorablebird is an 18 lb 3 yr old that had 7 beards. He is now perched on a limb in my trophy room.

I've been hunting these birds for6 years, got a jake on the last day of season my opening year. I've killed more birds then i can imagine in the ammount of time that ive been hunting, and have killed 15 birds, all jakes and toms. My biggest bird being a 23lbs 1 1/3" spurs, with a 11" beard. I have called any many more birds for other hunters as well, getting my brother-in-law his first bird is probly one of my most memorable hunts.

come on DTC you cant make a referance to that 7bearded bird without giving us pics! thats mean

Never even scored him but I bet he scores pretty good. We take several multibearded birds on our place. I took one of my buddys about 3 years ago and he killed one with 4 beards. We kill alot of double and triple bearded birds. I guess it is a genetic thing.

That's awesome, never seen one at my place. How about you ship your stud Tom down here to me in Alabama, I'd like to pass his genes along on my property! I can't wait to see what kinda birds we get this year, gonna be fun.

I had planned to go bush hog a little more around a couple of food plots and disk up some dirt on the edges, but there's a big line of storms passing through this weekend and we're under a flash flood watch. Maybe I can get up there tomorrow afternoon and do a little work, gonna be mighty wet though. I bet those turkeys are all out in those plots today in this rain, wish I was sittin on the cabin porch videoing.

The property i hunt has a double and a triple beard wandering on it if they have lived through the winter. Never got a shot at one, but ive seen them in the big flock on our way in/out. We also have a bearded hen with a good 10" beard on her, if she walks in front of me i wont hesitate to take her

We are gettin pounded with snow today down here in Auburn. We already got about 3 inches on the ground and its still comin down hard. Yesterday we had 3 tornados touch down in this area, today we got a load of snow. Hard to believe turkey season's 15 days away!

Sweet bird! That name works good for me!! I just checked the drawing results here in MI.. I drew the first season! I should have a good chance at killing a longbeard! As far as turkey hunting goes. I started hunting them when I was about 13.. I have killed 5 merriams, and last year my first eastern..

Add a name to this list if you think of one, then we'll pick from it when it gets to 5 or something. I honestly cant think of any, my brain hurts from school. [&:]

1. Flock Busters
2.
3.
4.
5.

Let's just be the flock busters, it aint gonna matter anyways, we're gonna win....period. Some of these teams are puttin more effort into thinking up a name than they will killing birds, haha. I'm more confident in this team than I've ever been in this contest, we have some sure enough turkey slayers. We'll get it done. 2009 Huntingnet.com Turkey Kings, the Flock Busters.

Yep, Turkey mode brotha. I was outta town tonight, took part in my very first calling contest and got completely star struck, then choked it big time on stage! haha I'm so dang pissed at myself. I've practiced non stop for the past week, pickin out the best diaphrams for each call, had em dad gum perfect man, then I blew it. The first person I saw when I got there was Doug Benefield, former world champion.......he was on letterman gobbling with preston pittman (youtube it, its awesome). Then low and behold here comes the legend himself, Eddie Salter. I shook Eddie's hand and was like a kid in a candy store. Then I heard somebody say "Hey Sadler", I looked over my shoulder and there was Sadler McGraw, 2009 Grand National Champ. The whole woodhaven Sting team was there. It was awesome man, but I sure wish I could've called like I do when I'm alone and relaxed, haha. Anyways, I'm thinkin about entering one this saturday at the bass proshop. Now that i got my first time jitters out of the way maybe I'll be able to concentrate and cut loose like I know I can. It was a hell of an experience just being around all those champions, really exciting!

Hey everybody
First off, let me apoligize for being so darn late in getting registerd with the team! My computer crashed a few weeks back and it's taken me quite some time to get things back up since I'm not very computer savy! I'm glad JW emailed me to wake me up about this. Anyway, please excuse me for being so late, but I am here and ready to help win this thing! I promise to be much more involved with the team now!
I'll be hunting this year in Kansas, South Dakota, my home state of MN. and either Wisconsin or Nebraska. 1st hunt starts down in Kansas starting April 11th. I can wait to get at them!
Everthing that has been done so far about this team is just fine by me. Now lets go out and hand every other team a good whooping!

Bill

RE: Team 10 Thread

Ok guys, I just got done going thru all the posts on our thread and will pony up some of my stuff. I am a self taught turkey hunter that is still learning. I've been chasing these grand birds going on 22 years now. By far and away my favorite type of hunting bar none! My best bird to date is a SD. Merriams that went 23lbs 11 1/4" beard and 1 1/4" hooks. Took him 5 years back. I have one slam under my belt with a bunch of Easterns, Merriams, 2 Rios and 1 Osceola to date. Next year I hope to either do a grand slam in 1 year or go down to Mexico to get a Goulds. My main gun is a Browning Gold 3" .12 ga.with aPure gold .670 choke, shooting Hevi 13 2 oz. #6's. She is topped with a Leupold 1x4 scope. I also use a T/C Encore with both a .12 and .20 gauge barrels. I took one bird 2 years back with my Knight TK2000 muzzelloader.
I'll post a few pics tomorrow.

I have been watching a group of 15 hens for about the last week in our alfalfa field and this morning 3 gobblers were following them. They wouldn't get any closer than about 50-75 yards. I took a trail cam over there to see if they are worthy of chasing. I am sure those 15 hens will make them an interesting hunt.

Calling for rain showers the first two days of the season! Excellent news. I know the fools on the neighboring hunting club wont get out in the rain, so I don't have to worry about them trying to call and sounding like a dying chicken. Birds should hit the fields those first two days, hopefully I can give a couple a bad headache.

Welcome Paint!!

Who is gonna "get this party started"? Our(my) season starts April 22nd. Been having 4-5 toms in the neighbors yard everyday for a few days now, which is about a 40 yard shot, lol.
