Just trying to be as democratic about it as possible, and wanted to make sure it was ok with the team. I dont mean to be a pain, I'm just a little anxious for turkey season to start. :DI guess I think the more I post on here the quicker the season will come. Doesn't seem to be working out so far.;)

Well then all we gotta do is figure out the team name. Again, no rush, just anxious. :eek:

Hey guys checkin in again...trying to avoid this place like the plague as it just gets me anxious for season to start. LOL

I am really anxious to hit the road chasin turks...I think the GPS is really goin to help me this year, we will see.

I don't want to handicap myself too bad, but I think I am bow only this year for KY season, havent decided for sure yet...will likely mix it up some, but majority will be time spent flingin arrows.

Shotty is first to bat in alabama though.:)

Waking up early enough to hunt at sunrise sucks, I hate mornings. We need to train turkeys to stay on roost until about 10 o'clock, then we can call our team Midmorning Demise :D I was drawn for a permit at Buck Lake WMA, 9291 acres and only 20 permits issued. The area is closed to vehicles except during hunting season. They'll let permit holders in the day before the season opens to scout. I was in there back in January with a hog permit and I'm really excited about my chances. Three weeks and counting.

Three weeks and counting indeed. I'll be in Texas in three weeks. Man I am pumped. I was going to my property this morning to listen, but the damn weather ruined it for me. Cold and very windy. Just yesterday it was in the 70's.Temps will be below freezing down here for the next three mornings. Here we go again, beautiful weekday weather and horrible on the weekends. I hope this pattern doesn't stick.

Well, people are starting to take names that are closely resembled to ours. So far, Sunrise Demise has lead the votes, and atleast currently I am going to put the name "Sunrise Demise" on our team name. If anyone has objections, let them be heard. Otherwise this name will stick.

Picked up a heck of a deal today. There are a couple of sporting good stores in my area that are going out of business. I've hit both of them. Been buying Nat Gear clothingat 50% off. The deal today was a Primos B-Mobile strutter for $39.99. I just couldn't pass that up. I've also been buying turkey calls at 40 to 50% off. I also bought a couple more Thermacells at $12.99 each. I think I may test B-Mobile out in Texas in a couple of weeks.

Come on guys, we were at the very bottom of the page. There has to be something about turkeys to talk about. I'll be going out this weekend to listen. The weather will be much better this weekend than last. Hopefully I will hear my first gobble of the year. Two weeks and counting for my Texas hunt.

Sounds good I have hardly any turkesy were I live but I am going to hunt on my friends land so I havent had a chance to get out there yet this year but he tells me they are all over the place!!!

Got some bad/good news for my Alabama trip. My dates off were wrong, and we had to move it back two weeks from March 20-23 to April 3-6. Sucks I have two extra weeks to wait, and that weekend in April I was SUPPOSED to go to our local NWTF Jakes hunt and guide for one of the kid hunters...but can't now. They have PLENTY of guys to help out though, so no kid will be without.

On the flip side, waiting two weeks into spring should GREATLY increase their call receptiveness. After the past two seasons, I have learned mid March is good to get out early, but a much harder time to call birds in than April-May. These birds are unhunted by anyone but me, so the hunting pressure is a nonfactor until I arrive. I can't WAIT to head down.

Still debating a TN trip on their opener, just can't convince myself one weekend is worth a $175 tag, when I don't have that much money to begin with.

Looks like still only KY and AL for me. haven't began spring scouting yet, but I will be doing some shedding/turkey scouting over the next week since it is spring break from college...I still have classes, so I couldn't head south for the beaches.:(:D

I just got myself the new carrylite Peep'n Tom. I wrote up a review on it on the turkey forum. I was thinking about going with the b-mobile as well superstrutter but decided against it.

I see you're dilemna Trevor, but if it were me, I can't justify $175 for a single weekend. I'd stay home and hunt for "free." Whatever you choose, good luck.

The weather sucks. I have been trying to go out and listen for the last two weekends. The weather has ruined it for me. Once again, the weather is going to ruin it again this weekend. Rain and wind arein the forecast. If it's not raining, the wind is blowing 25 to 30 mph. Right now it's rainy, cold, and windy. I'll be so glad when Winter is over. It looks like though, that the weather is going to be good in Texas next weekend for my hunt. It's hard for the gobblers to get fired up when the weather is so unpredictable. How is the weather and gobbling up north for you guys?

well in SWohio it was really nice and warm for a few days and now it has cooled off quite a bit to around the 35-45 range. but it is supposed to rebound back to the 50's

Well, this morning I went out at daybreak to see if the birds in north central Pennsylvania were indeed gobbling, and I discovered a few things.

1. The birds were roosted right where I thought.
2. The hens were roosted together, but the gobbler was roosted apart from the hens.
3. They are indeed gobbling. I heard 2 different gobblers and heard 14 gobbles.
4. I'm insane for going out to listen for turkeys in 14 degree weather.

Just thought I'd share. Is anyones season about to start up?

Next weekend I'm in Texas for the opener. The weekend after that is my opener in Louisiana. I am so fired up I can hardly stand it. The weather is horrible right now. It's been raining since daylight today. It's going to rain all night and most of tomorrow. I'll go out Sunday morning and listen. I'm sure this weather will have them quiet though. At least the rain will be gone By tomorrow afternoon.
