Wisconsin Gun Deer Season Closes.
Wisconsins Gun Deer Season closed yesterday. My party was blessed with 5 bucks and a doe. I shot 3 bucks and a doeand my brother shot 2 bucks. Other than that it was pretty quiet all overafter opening morning.
A preliminary tally of deer registration stations across the state showed that hunters registered 161,286 deer over the opening weekend of the nine-day gun deer hunt. According to state wildlife officials, this compares to 153,462 in 2004. The Department of Natural Resources officials stress that this is a preliminary call-around tally that will change when all registration stubs are submitted by registration stations and entered into the department's new registration data base.
The Wisconsin doe kill is still way down. Come on guys lets get the does next year.

The 9 day total should be close to 400,000 deer! That doesn't include deer taken in archery season which is around 100,000 or more! We have ALOT of deer in Wisconsin!

I just got back saturday. Was very depressing where we were. Out of 11 guys, I was the only one to see a buck. Finally tuesday came along and I bought a doe tag, shot one that night. It only weghed 82lbs dressed[]
We were hunting in 49A and B mostly. We saw a few decent bucks get checked in, but all in all, it was horrible season.

We had mixed luck in WI this year. My oldest son shot his first buck, my brother shot a nice, bigdoe, my sister-in-law shot 2 fawn s(she was sure they were adults when she saw them walking).
My 12-year old and I did not see any bucks and had no antlerless permits, though. It was quiet - even opening day I think I only heard shots from maybe 12 different hunters.
I was able to spend a lot of time looking through some nearby public hunting grounds and I think I know where I'm hunting next year!
A friend from work had great luck, though, in a different unit. They had 5 bucks and 6 doe in his party of 6.
