New to Bowhunting and have a question.
Hello, I am new to bowhunting and I just bought a used bow from a friend of mine and it has an overdraw on it and I was just wondering what they are used for? Thanks

An overdraw is used to shorten the arrow, making it lighter, allowing it to go faster. That's an overdraw in a nutshell. If you are new to shooting a bow at all, you may want to consider taking it off for right now. It will be a little harder to shoot, depending on how much of an overdraw it is. Just a thought.

I agree with jvanduse. I fell into the overdraw pit a few years back. I dont use them anymore. With todays carbon arrows and blazing fast bows, overdraws have fallen by the wayside.
Overdraws create a torquing problem for new and experienced archers. Becouse the point at which the rest contacts the arrow is farther back, any little twist of the grip, torquing the bow, is amplified.
I would recommend taking it off, and using a standard rest.
