Federal legislation that could dramatically enhance habitat conditions for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and other wildlife of young forests is scheduled for a vote in the US House of Representatives later this week.
Language in HR 2647, the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2015, would enable the US Forest Service to expedite the planning and implementation of projects designed to create young forest wildlife habitats on our National Forests. Less time and less of your tax dollars spent on planning and implementation mean more habitat and more grouse on the ground.
If you support common sense wildlife management on our National Forests, we urge you to contact your elected Representative and ask that they vote in favor of HR 2647.
Time is of the essence as the vote may occur as early as Thursday afternoon (July 9).

THANKS FOR SPEAKING OUT
ON BEHALF OF
FOREST WILDLIFE!
On Thursday July 9, the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2015, HR 2647, was passed by the US House of Representatives in a bi-partisan fashion. Your elected officials listened to Ruffed Grouse Society members, and other conservationists, and approved this ground-breaking legislation.
The Resilient Federal Forests Act includes language that could dramatically enhance habitat conditions for ruffed grouse, American woodcock, golden-winged warblers and other wildlife of young forests on our nation's national forests. In addition, this legislation would aid the U.S. Forest Service in combating the devastating wildfires that annually race across the country without depleting the agency's financial ability to address other pressing conservation issues, such as wildlife habitat management.
Similar legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate and, hopefully, will be acted upon later this year. RGS will keep you apprised of the progress of this legislation.
