[/align]In their never-ending hunt for food, feral pigs in Florida are confusing humans with dinner.
Swimmers and boaters at Cayo Costa State Park, one of the last undeveloped barrier islands in Florida, are being warned to look out for the wild hogs, the Fort Myers (Fla.) News Press reports.
The Lee County Health Department says the hogs, which can weigh as much as 500 pounds, have attacked eight people since April.
A Cape Coral couple spending the day at Cayo Costa was bitten by feral pigs recently and has had to undergo a series of rabies shots.
Released in the United States as a source of food in the 1500s, wild pigs are common in Southwestern Florida.
Health Department epidemiologist Bob South says the pigs have lost their fear of people because they associate humans with food.

Usually in the wild, they produce 2 litters a year with up to 10 to 12 piglets each time.
Gestation - The 113 to 116 day period when the sow is pregnant from breeding until farrowing.
3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days.
Heat - Refers to the estrous period for the sow. The first estrous normally occurs 3 to 5 days after the pigs are weaned.
Weaning is usaually over in 12 to 14 weeks.

Invading their territory? They're introduced-in my opinion, they have no territory or rights.
