Shoot farther........................................tig ht groups is all that really matters !

Other than hunting; what else is there - reloading & becoming a gunsmith I guess !?!?

The .270Win. will handle both just fine; unless you want to shoot 1,000 yards competitively.

I know that it will. I've got plenty of rifles that'll "handle both" just looking for some entertainment!

If your bored with a 270 win you'll be bored with everything after awhile. Start altering cases and your going to spend money and time. Make a 270 STW that's interesting.

Skip the 6.5-06 then, you won't "see" any entertainment over the .270...it's only .013 difference in diameter.

If you want something that you'll have some fun with...look at a .240 Weatherby, .243 Catbird, 6x284, 22x284 or a 22x25-06...

6.5-06 AI

.280 AI...

I personally wouldn't want a short action cartridge in a long action rifle again... feels like wasted space to me.

if thinking .240wby and you're still considering short actions... that 6mm-284 is pretty sweet.

If I weren't such a fan of the .30-06 first (then got bored with it, but still rely upon it), then such a fan of 284win and 6.5-284 thereafter, I would probably be more of a fan of .270win.

A 6.5-06AI sounds intriguing. It's just a barrel - not like you're getting married to it.
