the 76 and 6 are the exact smae gun as the 7600. exact same guts just cosmetic differances. i have a 7600 whelen also in a carbine. yes, i had it cut. its shoots exactly the same and no, its not a flame thrower. all my pumps and semi's are wearing williams peepsights w/ no rear appeture. its suits our method of tracking up here in maine w/ shots almost always running from about 20 to 75 yds. they all wear fiber optic front beads as well. i think scopes upset the way some rifles carry and would rather not deal w/ them.

The magazine getting stuck is comon on all 760s if you use an aftermarket magazine. I have a model 760308 that I missplaced the magazines on and had to purchase an after market/universal magazine for it and had the same problem. I did come across an original 760 308 magazine and have had no problems. That magzine you have you will find fits a variety of different model remingtons including the 7600. Right after gun season I found my two original 760 magazines. Unfortunately the secondary one I bought isnt in your caliber otherwise id give it to you.

shouldnt matter if its short action caloiber that you have. his is short action too
