I pride myself on making stuff from scratch - however, I've used a number of Legg's seasonings for sausage. They have all been really good, making me wonder why I bother doing things from scratch. If you just want to make sausage, say Italian, that actually tastes like Italian sausage, I recommend them. If you want to make it from scratch for the first time, I can almost guarantee that you will only get close.

All the ones I've seen/used have MSG in them, in case that's a concern for you. I personally think MSG concerns have been overblown - though I know there are people out there with true sensitivities to it.

Mostly used their italian hot and mild, and polish mixes. All have been good, authentic flavors.
