Yep first time last year we cut a few and I thought for sure using that chain saw wouldsend them out forthe small area I hunt.
Well opening day about 5:30 pm here they come right down the path and WACK got my buck sticker.

I really think shooting lanes dont scare deer, maybe for the first week or so but after that they get used to them, lastyear i cut a 10 yard wide shooting lane and it never bothered them, still got a few big boys on camera during the day time.

Your talking about 2 different things. What your doing is providing feed. Deer I believe know/connect the sound of a chainsaw with food (they like the tops left behind). Have had them come where I cut wood for years. On the other hand deer are also creatures of the line. Create a line between light and dark and they'll be spooked. Go in and set up a stand cutting to much away creating an edge of light where there was none and deer will avoid the spot until dark.

i think'd scare them while you're doing it but after the noise stops the deer calm down. noise and movement scare them but a log laying on the ground rather than standing doesn't seem to bother them much
