Default Advice for a New Bow Case

Guys

I'm in need for a new bow case and need some recommendations. I don't want one that will take up ALL of my closet space, but was thinking something in a hard case. Also, trying to keep it within the budget, if ya know what I mean. Any experience with any of the plastic hardcases, such as the ones you can buy from Walmart? Are they worth the money, any other suggestions?

Thanks,

GB

I have the Bow Guard case and have found it to be quite good for the price. I paid $27.00 dollars for it.
But I would not want to back my truck over it<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I got a &quot;Protector Series&quot; by Plano (model 1111) at Dick's about a week ago for $25. It happens to be camo with two support beams in the middle to give it added rigidity. It's only been about 10 days but it seems to be a good value.

I recently bought a new hard case and decided to go all out and get one that would last forever. I went with the SKB Compact, this thing is bullet-proof! It'll be useful should I ever go somewhere on an airplane. I tried one of the cheaper cases but found the construction to be shoddy to say the least.

I have one of the cheap plastic versions (Plano, I think). The hard rubber arrow holders can result in bent arrows if you aren't careful. Better to get one with the foam.

Also, if you get one of the cheap plastic ones, you won't feel guilty about screwing in a small tackle box to hold broadheads, allen wrenches, releases, etc.

I like mine except for the hard rubber arrow holders.

I also have the Plano, if you don't travel on airplanes much, just carry it on bus car trips, etc you can't beat the value!!!! the support colums protect your investment well!!! As for the rubber arrow grippers, i shoot carbons and haven't had a broken arrow... I've taken it on hunts to texas 2 yrs now and it has held up to airline gorillas throwing it around.. but i know i'm pushing my luck, for heavy airline travel probably an SKB or Aluminum case would be better.....

just my 2 cents

Thanks for your replies guys. My only use is hunting local, carrying my bow in the bed of my truck. The hard plastic cases will serve the prupose better than the foldable zip up case that I currently have. I looked in all of the archery shops within a 35 mile radius and the Plano was selling for @ $45 so I opted for the Flambeau sold at Walmart for $20. It also has the 2 support beams so it will probably give me $20 worth of longivity anyways. The snaps on the cover actually seem a little better than Plano offers and the density of the plastic sides seems about the same. Both brands have the rubber grips for the arrows.

Thanks again
