RE: Ballistics for 300 grain Hornady SST
I use a 300 grain T/C Shockwave (same bullet) with 2 Pyrodex pellets. Sighted in about 3 inches high at 100 yards puts me pretty much dead on at 150 yards. According to thesheet I have from Hornady:
300 gr SST has sec. density of .210, ballistic coefficient of .250.
With (2) 50 grain Pyrodex pellets here is what is listed:
Velocity(fps)Energy(fpe)Trajectory (150 YardZero)
Muzzle 100yds200ydsMuzzle 100 200 100150200

RE: Ballistics for 300 grain Hornady SST
ORIGINAL: blackheel
Does anyone have some approximate ballistics for the 300 grain Hornady SST? I know m/l ballistics are very variable because of primers, types of powder, length of barrel, etc but I am looking for something approximate. My gun range has no way to shoot more than 100 yards so I have no real way to see what will happen out to 125-150-200. I looked at the Dead Center bullet in 300 grain on their website and with 110 grains of ffg T7 they show 5.4" high @ 100 is dead on at 200. I doubt that will hold true with the Hornady bullet. Any help would be appreciated!

All were fired from a TC Omega, 209 Winchester primer, swabbed well between shots. Chrony was 20 feet from muzzle.
