I don't believe that tale. Davy had to have been at least 5 to aim that Kentucky flintlock.

I've read many stories of 5-6 round balls being put in grizz, and it kept on coming.

Davy's bear is suspect at best. Unless his was the 7th ball.

It also might have been a black bear cub.

i heard it was a mother and 3 cubs,and he aimed it over a whiskey barrel.he was 5.

Ever shoulder an old Kentucky flintlock? Quite a chore for a youngster, and most were smaller calibers then. Not as easy to kill a bear with.

That was a long long time ago. Stories tend to grow over the years.

I recall the time I killed a charging grizzly with a 243.
Or was it a charging elk?

i saw a deer shot by a 243 dadgum near blew the things head off.Not my choice for bear,but it cant feel good getting hit by one nonetheless.I saw a video where a deer killed a farmer with its antlers because he tried to chase it away with a pole.real stuff.youtube it.
