IMO you should get a rifle in 25-06 rem is will drop deer in their tracks and will not knock your teeth out every time you shoot it
But if you are planning on hunting anything larger than whitetail get a larger caliber mabey a .270 win

depends on where you live if you live somewhere where you can use a rifle i would use a 270. and if you live ina state where you have to use a shotgun i would use a 12g.
i have killed 2 deer this year one with shot gun and one with muzzle loader..

yea i ahve a 270 and i really like it i am looking into the 270 wsm for my next rifle but i live my 270 and i dont thnk i would rather have anything else not to mention it is a common caliber so u can get shells any where like if u r hunting if a town with like 50 people liike one of the towns i hunt by and ur out of shells u can goto pretty much any store and find em. also i dont think that the recoil is that bad plus it is a calibr u wont grow out of

well i would say if you can use a rifle , than go with a 243, 25 06 or a 270 all good guns not a whole lot of kick. and if you cant go with a 12 gauge. i would try shooting someones gun , if you can and go from there.
