I actually just got into bear hunting a bit this year, it helps to cure the spring hunting blues. I took this guy with my 7mm just east of my farm on May 6th, 04.

Not sure what happened with him actually. I caped him out and sold him to a local fur buyer here. Don't think i got my moneys worth at all for him but i had no money or desire to make a rug at that time for myself.

I plan to bear hunt in the future, but it will take a few years. Here in Wisconsin we have a point system and on average you draw a tag every 5 years, this is the first year I applied so looks like in about 4 years I'll get to go! I can't wait, would like to take every North American big game animal with a bow sometime in my lifetime. Will be a great goal to strive for!

RE: bear hunting?

i herd the bear rate is is 3% at getting one

Hiawatha 12-12-2004 09:39 PM

RE: bear hunting?

Depends on the area bb, the amount of bears, hunting pressure etc. 3% seems like a very low stat to me but i guess anything is possible. I can not recall what our success rate here is but i am sure it is up near if not over 50%.
