Goose Hunting

How is the best way to goose hunt? When I went a year or 2 ago I just layed in the weeds and covered my self with them. I didnt get anything. I thing using a pit is the best idea. We also had a truck load of decoys. I diddnt like how we hunted hiding in the weeds.

we sit in blinds, goose chairs or dig pits, we spread the decoys in out in a horse shoe always facing the wind, we use a horse shoe space because then the birds have some place to land close to you. Geese are real picky critters and u have to be certain no little cllumps of dirt from the pit are showin or that nothin on your blind is shining. If geese get so much as a bad feeling they are gone.

Decoys in either an X or the horshoe pattern, then lay inside the decoy spread. Do about the same thing for sandhill cranes, except more of a cigar shape, and lay in the decoys then also. Pits work great, but most of the time its find the field, and hunt the next day. Plus, dont like digging up the farmers pastures.
