turkey hunting
My friend is using a 12 ga for turkey. But he says you dont need a turkey choke in a 12 ga. just a turkey load. I dont believe it. what do you think ?

RE: turkey hunting
You need at least a full choke. If you try to hunt turkeys w/o a full, you will cripple a lot of birds. BB

RE: turkey hunting
I use a modified to full choke if i shotgun hunt. But, for the last three years its been nothing but bow for me. Id say go with a full, definatly not open bore! You need at least 2 pellets in the head, hopefully more. Try it with an arrow, its fun! Im goin strictly bow again this year.

RE: turkey hunting
I think you should at least have a full choke. on my 870 i use that new hevi-shot choke and its super-full and has really tight patterns.

RE: turkey hunting
Struttin, how does that heavy shot work for you? I know i patterned a couple one time and they didnt seem to work that well. i wanted to try some different loads by they were to expensive to just play with. Which ones are you using?

i dont kno how to use a mouth call for turkey....
, so can anyone help me out? |
RE: turkey hunting
I use a Full choke in my 12 ga. so i definetly think it's a better way to go but you don't necessarily need one bc the first turkey i shot 4 years ago i shot with a 12ga. w/o a choke.
