Hunting yesterday

Went small game hunting yesterday and ended up getting 17 grouse and 2 snowshoe hares with a 410/.22 combo gun.

Nice! We have to go up to the U.P. to get snowshoes. Only cottontails around here. Must have been a great day hunting.

grouse are GREAT eating. nice shooting. wish someone woulda told me they wont fly unless you dang near step on them...and when they take off they make that fluttering sound, i fell on my butt and shot it on my butt. i looked like an idiot. but there arent any grouse this far south so i only got to hunt them that one day! looks like you made the most of it tho! good job

Good job. Just little heads up though. You might want to put something on the ground like towel or old shirt, something like that so you can put your gun on it. Sure you can clean it up pretty good but there is always possiblity it might blow up in your face or jam if you miss any dirt, rock, etc.

Its that kind of thinking that can lead to getting seriously hurt. Better to be safe then sorry. Speaking from experience. Long story short: Friend's cousin had his O/U blow up in his face due to not cleaning it properly. He wasn't seriously injured and could have been alot worse. Still, had some pretty mean cuts and burns on his face as a result.

Point I'm trying to make is I don't want to see (or in this case, read) about one of my fellow hunters be injured due to neglect of their firearms.
