I was raised hunting small game and what not, but I agree..It is very rewarding to teach yourself and learn lessons the hard way through trial and error. When that happens, the success is much more gratifying. Now I can help and teach my little brother with the knowledge I have up to this point. The journey never ends when it comes to learning though. I still think more dads should get their kids in the woods... Good post.

I'm honored to say, that I'm a self-taught duck hunter. The old guys (duck veterans) hate it when I tell them some things that they may be doing wrong or give them tips/advice. They say, "You're too young to be tellin' me what I'm doin' wrong. You aint go the experience." Yeah, I don't know everything, and I'm learning new things everyday. But, I'm up there with most middle-aged seasons waterfowl hunters. What can I say? I'm obsessed. :s1:
