ATV Help please
Im looking to get a quad.Mainly for trail, and jumping.I drove many but never a manuel shift one.Is it very hard to learn how to do manuel?(i dont wont to mess up the quad)ive seen automatics such as the Kawasaki kfx 700 but just not sure(makes a funny whinning noise when driven).is there any other automatics(non utility style)?I want to learn how to use a manuel but do not want to buy if its too hard to learn and break it.Any thoguhts or suggestions would be appreciated. Is there any sport quads that have electric shift or anything but with the clutch?I ont think i could do the clutch onesvery well

RE: ATV Help please
Manuals aren't that hard to learn how to ride on. So don't let that deter you from getting one. Depending on what brand it won't break that easy, the only difficult part I had when I learned how was getting into first gear, which quickly got easier. For a trail bike, you can look at the Honda 300EX, they are really reliable and a great fourwheeler for beginners. But then I am a HUGE fan of Honda, wouldn't buy or ride anything else...except for the Brute 750i, that thing is a beast...anyway, Kawasaki and Yamaha also make good quads too. They aren't quite as expensive either, at least I think they aren't.

What are the cons about having a automatic? It just seems really hard to learn how to do manual.I think it would be hard to remember what gear your in lol...or when to shift.

RE: ATV Help please
The 08 Honda 300 is pretty good deal, it's also a good, long lasting, reliable quad. The Yamaha Raptor 350 is another good one, the only thing that keeps we away from the Raptors is that they have had problems with the chain in the past. Stay away from the 700s and 450s, that is a lot of power in a quad for a beginner. Hope this helps, let us know which you decide on.

RE: ATV Help please
the 2009 Kawasaki KFX 450R Monster Energy looks awesome!Im trying to understand speed on diffent cc's.How fast will the 450's go,the 300's and so on?(on average..stock parts)Ive driven maual but it has been 2 years and i pretty much forgot everything I had learned. My neighbor had a banshee and that was the one i drove and it was hard at first if i remember correctly but got easier. My biggest problem was when to shift and shifting smoothly.

RE: ATV Help please
Like I said, stay away from that 450 if you are wanting a trail quad. That Kawasaki is freakin amazing, but it is a race ready fourwheeler, which means that there is a chance that it only runs on race fuel, and if thats the case, then it goes through it a lot faster than the 300. But that is something that you'd have to ask the dealer. But race ready and trail ready are too way different things. The 450 is going to accelerate a lot faster and be a lot less friendly when you are trying to take it easy on a trail. The 450 might try to wrap up on you and just take off. I had a blaster that was terrible about that. But the final choice is up to you.

RE: ATV Help please
As Mossbergman11/Oh said it takes no skills to ride them.Sounds perfect for me since Im not sure I would like a maual.I just want to trail ride and maby a few small jumps...nothing big.I dont want to have to worry about shifting when im on a trail and forget or something. The kfx 700 has more than enough power and it being automatic would make it more fun for me to ride and not worry about shifting. The only thing different from the kfx and all the other ones is its auto right?I dont think it would be boring lol.

RE: ATV Help please
i honestly would go with the Yamaha YFZ450. manuals arent that hard to learn to drive. they are alot funner and better than automatics

RE: ATV Help please
i made the decision to get the Kawasaki kfx700 after seeing what they are capable of when they have after market parts:D.I know any quad will do that but this one seems like the right choice for me.Ill probably get all the after market goodies(monster exhaust, orange clutch spring, cams, rev box, etc...)Stock they go around 70 but with all the extras they are smokin.
