how much snow!

anyone else keep getting pounded. its snowing like crazy here again. we got 20" friday and we are gettin another 18 or so today plus the almost 100" we have gotten already this year and we have 2 months of it left. im tired of plowing and shoveling. usually it doesnt bother me but this is stupid. too deep to fish too deep to rabbit hunt and i dont feel like snowmobiling anymore. the 4 wheeler doesnt go at all and my gf complains nonstop about it. last year we had snow on my front lawn untill june 1st!! i hope it goes away quicker this year

RE: how much snow!

i miss shovelling snow, back at home i had to shovel everyday. the most snow we got last year was a huge blizzard that dropped enough snow in a couple hours that ended up being up to my hips it was crazy. but now that we live in an apartment we dont have to shovel snow, thats how i got my super arm muscles lol, jk. appearently chatham doesn't usually get too much snow but its gets really cold (-40 are normal) but this year it has been extremely cold and then really warm(warm for winter) and we have been getting piles of snow. and unfortunately chatham has absolutely no snow removal except in parking lots. none of the main roads get plowed, its ridiculous. thank god for 4WD. and now the weather sucks because its super cold during the week and then it gets really warm on thursday-sunday so we cant go ice fishing on the weekend because the ice ends up melting too much so we are super bored on the weekend.

what you miss shoveling!!!! are you crazy! you might change your mind if you worked for me last week. i shoveled 16 roofs in 4 days. im spent. then i spent a whole day gettin mine and my two buddies shacks of sebago lake. 16 inches of snow and slush on the ice. the can-am 800 was not likeing life at all.

they dont plow roads there?? thats weird but funny. hard to believe you cant fish though w/ temps like that. how much ice do you want!! you only need a couple inches man! although sebagop ahs about 8 right now. i will say becareful though. ive been in the drink a few times and its never fun. it used to be scarfy at first but now im kinda used to it. i went in the river this past december duck hunting w/ my brother. i froze solid from my nipples down lol

also when you say -40 are you talkin celcius or ferinheit (sp)

what kind of roofs were they? flat? not too many people use shacks out here on the lakes most people use portable ice huts but its normally no problem anyway because there is so much wind that there is almost no snow on the ice apart from massive snow drifts.

they plow the roads after all the snow has melted or has blown off the road and then wat they do is not plow the roads, they plow the shoulders of the road its retarded, i will never understand. the ice out on the lake is fine but all the shore ice is ruined and to thin to walk on. falling through isnt too bad out where we are because lake st. clair is so shallow. if you fall though you panic at first and then you realize you can touch bottom and your upper half is still above the ice. the only sucky part is walking a mile back to warmth.

technically its both if you look at a thermometer, but im talking farenheight. i use celcius for summer and farenheight for winter lol its more dramatic that way lol

lol yea i had to look at a thermometer i already knew that -40 in Celsius and Farenheight were the same i just had to remember which one was which i though it was farenheight i just had to make sure.

we have a portable shack to, we are going to sell the one we have now at the end of ice fishing season and then buy a bigger one so we can bring our dog because our hut is to small right now. the wind isn't too bad in our hut as long as we pack snow around the bottom or the wind ends up coming in on the side where we drilled the holes and if your ice fishing the wind is usually pretty cold lol

ok good about the roofs not being flat because if you have a flat roof and you get snow then your just asking for either extra problems and or extra work

RE: how much snow!

lol i knew you looked at a thermometer! i guess i shouldnt say that my portable shack doesnt protect from the wind it does. i just prefer to close the door and lock it as oposed to breaking one down in the wind and dark. keep in mind that after 10 or 12 hours on the ice im probably not very coordinated if you catch my drift. i ahve an otter 5 man. its too big to pulkl by hand w/ all the crap in it but i hook it to either my wheeler or my snowmobile. they def have there place in the ice fishin world but i still prefer my permanant shack since i fish that place everyweekend for big browns!!!! and salmon too.

as far as the roof shoveling goes they are all customers. im self employed in the winter the building and concrete slows down so we plow and shovel roofs. i get anywheres from 200-700 bucks a roof so its not bad. im not sure who in their right mind wold ever build a flat roof up in the north??? only a canadian i supose eh?! haha

post some of you ice fishin pics!!!!!
