Annual "Favorite Song" Thread

Every couple months we get a "favorite song" or "favorite band" thread...so i figured id post up the first of 09'. People's opinions are constantly changing anyways ;). I wont set a standard, because lord knows we love to deviate from the them in this forum, but im going to list my Top 10 favorite songs:

Random/useful info/data ahead! ;)

1.Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana: Everybody knows it's my favorite, and everybody knows its one of the greatest.Placed #9 on Rolling Stones 500 greatest songs of all time. Changed the face of music forever (If you like most any rock music made after 1991, you can thank Kurt Cobain, Nirvana and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Released in 1991 and reached #1 BillboardHot ModernRock Tracks. Also placed #3 on Rolling Stones 100Best Pop Songs chart.

2. Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses: This song has it all, powerful lyrics, great info and riff, and one of, if not the best, guitar solos ever created. Axl Rose and Slash put in the best performances of their careers for this one. Released in 1988 and hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100's chart.

3. Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd: The greatest southern rock band playing the greatest southern rock song. This song also can lay claim as possibly having the greatest guitar solo of all time, with 3legends (Collins, Rossington and Gaines) shredding their Gibsons for over 5 minutes. Released in 1973 and places #191 on the Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time.

4. Hotel California - The Eagles:Once again, a 3rd contender for the greatest guitar solo of all time. Joe Walsh and Don Felder end this song with perfection. Released in 1977 and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 1 week.

5. Something Like That/Red Rag Top - Tim McGraw: Hard to decide which is my favorite Tim McGraw song, so they both get a credit.

6. Boys Of Summer - The Ataris/Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots: Cant pick between the two once agian. Sue me, they are both amazing songs. Scott Weiland is a music legend.

7. Blurry - Puddle Of Mudd/Burden In My Hand, Spoonman - Soundgarden. Once agian, these songs all kick some major tail. Chris Cornell is legend himself.

8. Hella Good - No Doubt: I wont lie to you, i would have to say Gwen Stafani is my favorite female singer.

9. One Step Closer/Somewhere I Belong/Given Up - Linkin Park. They all sound the same, they all pump me up. All 3 count as one in my book.

10. Anythingelse Audioslave, Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, GNR and even some Kenny Chesney. Brittney Spearshas some catchy tunes as well ;)

Wow, altogether i listed 15 songs and 15 different acts. Only took me about an hour to make this post. Does that count as some kind of record?

:)
