Single pin sights
Are the single pin sights easy to use???
|
RE: Single pin sights
I think you're asking in the wrong place;)
|
RE: Single pin sights
I personally have no experiance with single pin sights. You would probably get more responses if you asked this in the bowhunting section.
WOW a real hunting question[8D] |
RE: Single pin sights
I used to have a Trophy Ridge mantis. It worked good for me, but I prefer a 5 pin
|
RE: Single pin sights
My sight has 5 pins :D
|
RE: Single pin sights
I like my 1 pin sight. At most i would only want a 3 pin but still dont care for that many. I shoot everywhere from 5-60 yards with a 1 pin.

RE: Single pin sights
ORIGINAL: Retaks I like my 1 pin sight. At most i would only want a 3 pin but still dont care for that many. I shoot everywhere from 5-60 yards with a 1 pin. as far as hunting, i wouldnt want a single. my 3d bow is set up w/ a 3 axis micro adjust single pin w/ 4x glass. when i was younger.....i dunno 9, 10 years old i was using a single pin also for tourney and tried it hunting but it didnt work out that great unless the animal comes perfectly to the yardage your set for at that moment. adjusting while there standiung there isnt that easy. how many times have you drawn you bow on a deer to have it turn, walk 10 yds and stop again?? that sucks. because then your left w/ either compensating, which is highly chgancey at best or leting down and adjusting and re-darw your bow. its up to you but think long and hard of all the situattions you could encounter and how your equipment is gonna be at that time. i prefer now after being an archer for 19 almost 20 year a simple 3 pin sight. i like three because my compounds are fast enough that the pins are real close together and i feel 5 pins is to much of a cluster, especially at dusk. i have it set 20, 30 and 40. ome of the set ups ive tried has been zero to 30 one pin, then 40 and 50 but i cant think of a time, other then when i was hunting PA that i needed a 50yd pin. it was all the big fields there that we dont have here. besides, bowhnting is about getting them in close. for sights i recomend the extreme 900. ive been shooting it for 2 years and its been very tough, simple to use, micro adjust, and light weight. also a inline three pin that i like are the vital bow gear systems. i have on of theose on my AR and liek it okay...... final decision is what makes you happy and what your confident in |
RE: Single pin sights
I have 3 pins. 20, 25, and 30 yards. Im asking for a 5 pin one for christmas so I can get a little bit farther in shots.

RE: Single pin sights
hey pope94, just somehtin to think about, that whisker biscuit your shooting is robbing you of a lot of potential as fas as speed goes which translates to more distance.......w/ the set you you already have. my father shoot a whisker biscuit, has since they come out and ive been tryin to get him to abandon it but he wont. unless your doing a lot of ground stalking i see no need for a full capture rest. a nice wide lizards tounge on a drop away is much more practical. i mean, if you have to tip you bow that much in a treestand to get a shot either wait, or you shoudl have picked a better tree or trimmed some brnches. just my thoughts.

|

I shoot everywhere from 5-60 yards with a 1 pin. and the last time i checked that is still guessing. you dont know exactly where to hold the pin, your guessing. admit it. rangefinder or not. unless your a phenom adn had sight pins then you could probably shoot thumb tacks at a hundred yds if you had pins. also go check out the traditional boys and see how far they shoot at a deer. lol huge differance skowpachee. and i aint complaing,im sayinits stupid and i wouldnt recomend it to the kid whos asking the question. besides, if you have time to range the distance why not adjust your pin ?!? hahaha this is funny |

Dead center on the pin is 45 yards and there is a small scratch there. And i would never shoot a deer past 35-40 yards unless i had a perfect broadside shot in a clearing with no wind. Even though i keep 5" groups at 55 yards. |
RE: Single pin sights
I totally agree with Retaks here. I shoot a single pin HHA for 3D and hunting. With my bow I know my holdover with my sight set at 20 or even 25 yards. Call it guessing if you must, but if I can shoot better then 80% of the the people at the shop when I'm guessing then guessing is alright to me.

RE: Single pin sights
I used an HHA single pin adjustable for a while and really liked the sight. I went back to a fixed 3 pin sight just because I prefer not to have to move the sight for different yardages, but there are a lot of people who use them and love them.

RE: Single pin sights
hahaha what ever floats you boat. you guys must have the fastest bows alive for it to go from the center of the pin at 35 and the bottom at60 w/ only a .010 pins lol and yes its still guessing. what ever floats your boat. i highly recomend to the young fella whos post this is, to learn how to do it correctly
my 3d bowi garentee is faster then any hunting set up either of you two shoot and from 30 to 40 yds i have to adjust 5 1/4 clicks. (3/16")and my 3d bow is 321fps on a cold string either way im done talkin about it. i think its funny as hell and very very in consistant. |
RE: Single pin sights
i use a HHA single pin sight for 3d but i use a 4 pin sight for hunting

RE: Single pin sights
know exactly what you have. you failed to tell the whole story. you basically have or are usng it as an inline three or five pin sight. they make sights, believe they are grandteeton sghts that are vertcle and have a tritium dot on top then they give you glow strips that you apply at the other yardages. which is a totally differant system then what he was asking about. w/ that set mup, you might as well buy a inline three pin (vital bow gear makes about the best one) because all your doing is marking a spot on your post for other ranges.
