Gigging? If you mean jigging, then yes, thats how I ice fish.

no gigging where you use gig things like spears to harpoon fish called suckers or hogmollies in rivers while you have big spotlights on the front of your boat

Only the Indians can do that. Instead of their birchbark canoes, wooden spears and small torches, they use fancy boats, huge metal spears, and high powered spotlights. Tradition my foot.
