eye domanance
 

i just found outi was left eye domanant but im right handed.

i know for bow hunting you shoot with your domanant eye is it the same with rifles and shotguns.
it feals so weard to shoot left handed cant i just close my left eye and shoot righty.

or is it better to shoot with bot eyes open unless aiming at long ranges.

as far as eye dominance goes in guns i think it a ll comes down to which side feels more comftroble to shoot from! my grandpa is left eye dominant and shoots righty...hunted 52 years and never had a problem

I am left eye dominant, and shoot my bow right handed.

I have to close my left eye, otherwise I can't even see throught the peep sitght. It just feels way too weird to shoot left handed.

Im on rifle team at our school and thats the first thing we did on day 1, if you wanted to get real serious you should shoot with your dominant eye, but you can do fine with out it

im a classic example. ive been shooting guns and bows since i was three. i was taught right handed, my dad and everyone assumed i was right handed cuz i did everything right handed. i didnt realize i was left eye dominant till i was 16! by that time i had won tournyments w/ bow, shotgun and moving rifle competitions all over new england. so why switch now!!! i can shoot a rifle and shot gun left handed pretty damn well come to find out but i still hunt and shoot righty. ive always shot w/ my left eye slighty closed or completely anyways and there isnt a very big diff in my two eyes either, that may be why i shoot well either or but look at it this way, if my left eye is closed, my right has to be the dominant one;)good luck and keep shooting the way you are. as far as long ranges go i dunno the furthest i have ever tried a rifle shot was 300 yds and that was at a sand pit. never in the deer woods have i shot over 125yds. the results however werent any different then up close so ide say no matter what your oing, shoot the same way every time! dont buy into all the crap you read about this subject by so called "professionals" either, do what suits you. ive argued this pint w/ friends of mine and gone to the pit and had a little friendly shoot out and for someone who "shouldnt be able to shoot that way" i always kick their azzes!
a little food for thought, my grandfather was the same way and he was by far one of the best shots in the deer woods on runnin game ive ever heard about around here

Im right handed and right eye dominate. But my dad found out he was right handed and left eye dominate at the age of 41. He adjusted pretty good.

just currious, why would he adjust after all that time??im sure he was quite adiquite for the first 40 years right?!

He likes to do things the "right" way....

He doesnt do much hunting anymore anyways, more of a supervisor for 2 of my younger brothers.

Acutally no, when i was like 12 and 13 yes...but now that im 18 he lets me do my thing.
