How many/how long
 

Hey guys.
Just out of curiosity. For those of us who hunt deer, how many years have you been hunting? How many deer have you taken. How many bucks? Doe's? Just curious.
I have gun hunted going on my 8th season. I have gotten 4 bucks and 6 doe.
I have been bow hunting for four years. And have 1 buck and 1 doe.
So. 5 bucks, 7 doe. And I also hunt ohio and pennsylvania, which allows me some more tags haha.

This is my 5th season deer hunting. I started when I was 13.

4 does
2 bucks

It is split evenly:
2 does and 1 buck with a rifle.
2 does and 1 buck with a bow.

ive been on my dad coat tails since i was 5. i had seen piles upon piles killed before i was old enough to hunt myself. which was when i turned 9. this is my 16th hunting season coming up and i have killed 33 deer....only 6 were does.

all gun kills...was looking to get into bow this year but that will be a few years due to the shoulder:(

2nd year. No kills. Hopefully it will change this weekend for our state's youth hunt.

I always hate this question because different people have different opportunities and time... Like one person might live on a 1000 acre farm in Kansas who has a father that has been hunting all his life. The next person might have tried deer hunting learning by himself, with no connections; hunts only public land in Florida.

Aww but im not gonna rant. I don't deer hunt really anymore. I went one time this year with the bow and saw a good number of deer with two shooter eight points out of range.

Bucks: 3; 4 bucks if you count the one we didn't find. (Blood trail took us in circles; yotes musta got 'em)

i understand exactly what you mean chris...but i wouldnt have posted if i thought it was a competition...at lest the way i understood it it was just a question to understand how long we have been hunting...maybe i was reading it the way i wanted to i dont know

Took a doe with my bow my first season. Had to miss last season because of Miriam. Hoping we can get out this season since I can be away from her longer.

I 100% agree. I have to teach myself. I'm still learning the intricacies of gutting the deer. I've hunted 1 year and have 1 deer, a doe. I have no connections so i will have to find some over hunted public land to try to put some more meat in the freezer. Lets just say i won't be to picky this year.

I started deer hunting when I was 12 because here in Kansas we had to be 12 to deer hunt at the time. I have taken 2 bucks and 2 does, all with a rifle. Hopefully I can get a buck and at least one doe this year with my bow.

i should also note that maine and new hampshire are a one deer per YEAR state. w/ very very low deer densities. i sometimes wish i lived in a state w/ more deer and more tags cuz my deer #'s dont really reflect my tracking abilities[&:]

Come to WI. Estimated deer population is about 1.6 million.

13 years of deer hunting for me. No clue on the amount of deer I've killed. Just a guess would be 25-30 bucks, and 100+ does.

7 seasons hunting,

3 years with a bow,

1 buck with a bow, 1 doe with a bow

1 button buck with a shotgun, 1 doe with a shotgun,

1 turkey with a shotgun,

Untolds amount of small game taken with anything from a slingshot to a cannon ;)

Well i started when i was 12 so this is my 9th season and i honestly have no clue how many deer ive killed. I hunt 3-4 states every year. This year is 3 states so i have 14 tags i know of and i havnt got my 3rd license yet since it is for at my moms in Alabama so i dont kow haw many deer i can get down there. The last 3-4 years ive got prob 12-15 deer a year. Some have been more though.

It really was just out of curiosity. Just to get an idea of how long everyone has been hunting and who all got what. no competition. Hope I didn't come off wrong to anyone. Just an honest question. Thanks to everyone who posted already!

I hunt in NY and there you cant legally hunt deer until your 16. so i've only hunted legally for 3 seasons, gotten 6 deer. 3 bucks, 3 does all with shotgun. I've been hunting with my dad since I was 7 or 8. Love it and cant wait til November 15th (when the season opens) :)

I knew what you were trying to do. If they have a problem thats on them. IM sure you understand that some people have it better then others. Its like when im around home there are so many houses that the deer are in small patches of woods so they are easy to find but when i go to my moms they are in big woods or up the mountains around here so they are alot harder to get and you have to hunt them different.

2008- endless possibilities :D
all with my shotgun hopefully be gettin a bow within a couple days:D
my dad loves to go hunting with me but he has never hunted but my 2 brothers hunt but theve only gotten a few does between them so their not wat i call "avid" hunters

Hard to find places to hunt deer out here so haven't done any in long time. I've had my hunting license for about 15 years and tagged along with my dad, mom and grandpa when they hunted long before I got my license (I didn't shoot anything, no)

Being a landowner/operator you can get however many double doe tags a year you want till they are sold out (and they are never sold out) and my neighbors with feedlots have quite a few depredation hunts on their places each year. Last year we shot 56 does out of my cousins feedlot in one afternoon. Plus I hunt Nebraska, West River deer tags every year (2 tags) and East River tags (however many I want to pay for where I live in SD), and the depredation hunts. Doesn't take too long to add up some serious deer numbers.

I agree with Siman on this one! I gotta call BS on it. There is no way to shoot 56 does in one afternoon.

When we shot the 56 does, there was 12 other depredation people in the group. Those were people that we didn't know. My cousin then had another 5 guys in the group that he got to hand pick. So when we pushed the deer out of his shelter belt (500 + deer), deer started getting shot. He was allowed to take 10% of the herd out, and we did it in one day. I shot 3 does that day for my 3 tags, and I shot 2 more for other hunters that were wounded deer that I was helping track. I have no idea what everyone did with the deer meat, I donated all my does to the Hunters Against Hungy program. So I'm not saying that I killed 56 deer in one day if thats how it came out thats not what happened. LOL

For you non-believers I'm willing to bet you hunt timber, there is NO timber here. Its wide open, flat, plains where you can see a minimum of 2 miles, and we are chocked full of deer. Its not uncommon to get 600+ deer in a herd in peoples feedlots around here. That many deer doesserious damage to the silage, hay, corn, etc.

hahaha 56 does in 1 afternoon! that would be about 108 dollars in bulles if they were all one shot kills out of my 350 lol thats an expensive no adrenalin hunt if you ask me
