smallest deer ever

i was cruisin through some pics on my computer from last fall and i came across some pics of the smallest deer ive ever dragged out. this 78 yr old guy was up to camp and he had a doe permit and wanted to kll a maine deer. soooooooo being the nice guys that we are my father and i took this old fella w/ us to a place where a family group of does were hangin out. (i found them by trackin a good buck through there a few days earlier) anywyas, we set him up near where the does broke for the day i jumped them out and told him to just sit still and hang tight for about an hour or two while my father and i took a little walk-a-bout. we had a pretty good idea where they were holed up and i ended up jumping them only about 150 yds from where ol' butchy boy was sittin. about 30 seconds later i heard his 30-30 go pop. when i got to him a few minutes later he was all grins. it made me pretty happy that t worked out cuz it really was all luck that those does happened to be in there and use the same exit route as the last time. this was def. one of the smallest lambs ive ever dragged out or seen during firearms season. in his defense though, those little ones are harder to hit on the run. he did a great job and made a hell of a shot for a 78 yr old. i hope im still hunting at that age! here are a few pics of butchy from pennsylvaniaup in northen maine w/ his first maine deer

smile butch!

Thats deff a small one. I know a guy that shot one about that size and just put it in his game bag on his vest to carry it out. He came walking out with its legs up by his head. It was the funniest thing ive seen.

lmao yea. ol butch hasnt been feelin to good the last couple of years. we actually just met him about three years ago so i was happy for him. in his eyes it could had been a 250 pounder and he wouldnt have been any happier. in fact i was tlakin to my dad tonoight and he told me ol butch had a heart attack earlier this summer... i think ill try to get his address and send him copys of his "moster" lamb

oh by the way, it weighed 46lbs no heart and liver lol thats like the size of the gut pile that comes out of our bucks up here lol

I would admit it. Some of the places i hunt i try to shoot ones that size. A 3 mile hike into the woods with 60+ pounds of gear and you choose what deer you shoot.

I've shot two that size as well. One field dressed at 40 lbs. .... the other was a little bigger. It's hard to judge sometimes when you are doing drives. But they were tasty.
