RE: new to forum
Well I guess I should introduce myself a little better too. I'm 18 now, married with a 10+ month old daughter. I never even thought about hunting or guns until I met my husband. I got my first deer, with a bow, in 2006, a fairly good size doe. I've also hunted rabbits, squirrels and woodchucks. I missed last hunting season because of Miriam (my baby). We're hoping to get out this season because I can be away from Miriam longer now.
My bow is a used Pro-line youth bow, 30 poundpull, which we bought at a yard sale. I use that because I'm really small (4 foot 7 inch, 74 pounds, picture a 10 year-old girl), and can't really use an adult bow. (Michigan has no draw weight limit) I've had some people go kind of nutty about the 30 pound pull though. Obviously you have to get really close. We practice almost daily, because he taught me that shot placement is critical. I got my doe through the heart. She took about three steps, hard to tell with a four-footed animal, and dropped. We use Magnus broadheads, single blade, which are about as sharp as a razor. I'm hoping to use a muzzleloader, my favorite gun, during firearm season. ![]() |
