RE: favorite bow?

thats a tough question.......they all have good and bad points........i like my bowtech because of the timing system and the speed but my mathews was more forgiving but mopre of a paiun to keep in tune. my hoyts were all nice bows but i didnt like the backwalls. really creepy walls....they have gotten better latley though. my highcountrys balanced the best torque wise out all the bows ive had but they were jumpy. my AR is a smooth shooter but has poor limb pockets. everything is flawwed one way or another. thats just the way things go......ide have to say my fav. bow would be my 62"/45# sammick deerslayer......no sights, no stabilizers n timing issues, just relax, draw and fire. simpler way of shooting and more enjoyable for me

Rory/MO 06-16-2008 04:43 PM

RE: favorite bow?

skybuster, i thought those bowtechs were supposed to be the most forgiving bows on the market?

skybuster20ga 06-16-2008 04:50 PM

RE: favorite bow?

mmmmmmmm....i dont think so personally. mines pretty radical. you have to have almost perfect form every shot and you know as well as i do that doesnt happen hunting out of a treestand. sometimes your twisted up in awkward positions. dont get me wrong im happy w/ my 2 bowtechs but you kinda have to pay more attentoion to form when your hunting then ide like to. my outback was by far more forgiving. if i were to buy a new hunting bow, i mean just for hunting ide probably go back to an AR and have the limb pockets machined.

doesnt matter if its a $100 bow, as long as youre comfortable with it, and shoot it well, itll get the job done just as good as a $1000 dollar bow

mossbergman11 06-16-2008 08:52 PM

RE: favorite bow?

ok

what are the other high end bow brands i mean?

whitetailbowhunter 06-16-2008 08:57 PM

RE: favorite bow?

bear, limbsavers got a good one out, pse, alpine archery, browning, parker, martin
sorry thats all i could really think of off the top of my head

but what i was trying to say was, shoot different bows, and get what you like the most, no matter if its in the top of your price range or the bottom

pheasantfanatic 06-16-2008 09:26 PM

RE: favorite bow?

I started with a Hoyt ViperTec, then got sponsored by Pearson Archery, and got a Z-32 from them, so I have to be partial to them, but I really like both bows. I shoot the Pearson better, but the Hoyt shoots a lot smoother, especially since I added an STS to it the other day.

There are things that I like and don't like about each bow.

RE: favorite bow?

you pay way too much for the name w/ bowtech and hoyt and mathews when you can shoot comparable bows at less of a cost. mossbergman11 ide seriously check in to the AR line. AR and pse are one in the same......i should say that i think pse's are a complete toilet in my opinion but for some reason im pretty partail to there AR line of bows

bwhunter501 06-17-2008 11:44 AM

RE: favorite bow?

i shoot a mathews and really would not shoot anything else but if your looking for a lower cost bow that IMO is very comparable to the top brands is AR like skybuster said

AR is archery research, a knock off of PSE, but i didnt know they were still around, very good bows

skybuster20ga 06-17-2008 01:10 PM

RE: favorite bow?

i wouldnt call it a "knock off" cuz the quality is as good if not better then pse itself but its where pse does its research and trial and error and development. its like diamond and bowtech

If you want a bow comparable to a Hoyt, go with the Reflex line. Their parent company is Hoyt, but they are a cheaper branch, just like AR.

RE: favorite bow?

reflex good?

Rory/MO 06-17-2008 03:08 PM

RE: favorite bow?

reflexes are very solid bows, when i shot them i liked them a lot.
still my advice to you when you go out to get a new one, go to a couple different shops, and shoot as many bows as you can. get whatever you are most comfortable with.
