RE: whats worth more?
Should have just cut the line, i don't care how much a piece of tackle is worth, it ain't worth killing a baby fish your not gonna keep and eat. I caught a small Walleye one day, about 18 inches and wasn't going to keep it as i knew there were bigger ones to catch. The Treble hook was caught in its mouth and i was having a very hard time getting it out. i knew if i didn't hurry the fish would die so i just cut the line and lost my lure and steel leader and such. Cost me about $15 in tackle but it was worth it to save the lil fishies life:)

RE: whats worth more?
Me and my buddies catfish alot and even if we get our treble hooks stuck in a little bullhead we caught them off and give them a chance. People dont realize what they hurt when they kill all the fish they catch.

RE: whats worth more?
Get the hook out. If a fish is hooked deep into the mouth, anywhere, there is a great chance of the fish dying regardless. Many people release fish that end up dying no matter what, even though some swim away in a breeze.
On a side note, if you were in a river system with trout in it, it is a good thing to take as many pike out of there as possible, they eat an extreme amount of trout per day. |
RE: whats worth more?
i probably just should of cut it

RE: whats worth more?
We just cut the line if necessary. Also, my husband keeps a pair of wire cutters in the tackle box. Most times you can reach in and just cut off most of the hook. The rest of the hook will just corrode away.

RE: whats worth more?
really i only fish for trout and salmon most of the time i would have killed the pike and or pickeral and then taken my lure out [&:]it isnt right probably but thats just how i is :)pike were illeagally stocked in maine waters and the state is trying to get rid of them all. that could have somethin to do w/ how i look at it. if it were a trout or salmon that this happened too i would probably keep it regaurdless of the size. i seriously doubt it would survive w/ a mepps in him.
