SURVIVOR MAN is the best.man vs. wild is a farce"survivorman is far more realistic and practical. You try the things he does on man vs wild, and you'll either die, or wish you were dead[8D]"(joshkeller)

I am a former US Army Survival Instructor. I worked in Artic and Mountain areas. I have seen people first hand like theose both mentioned and I know 99.9% of everyone that this happens to, you are the ones who never prepair for it. As most people " I never thought this would happen " or " I was just out for a hour" Anyone who goes anywhere an area should always prepair for at least 3 day of stuff(food, water ,fire, shelter) And you don't need to buy a kit to do this.

Survivorman is alot more realistic...he is alone and has to film all that stuff himself
Man v. Wild is worthless...Bear Gryls just walks around and tells you that you should do this ridiculous stuff to be able to survive
My vote is for Survivorman

I like Man Vs Wild for the simple fact that Bear GETS OUT. He does something about his situation and although he is more out there, his show is about EXTREME cases of survival. What he shows you is when it's coming down to life or death what kinds of things you COULD do if you MUST-not necessarily what you SHOULD do if you don't have to yet.
For example, Bear showed you how if when you were in the arctic walking, that you should tie knots behind you so that if you happen to run into a crevice, the knots will bite and you will catch yourself. Les Stroud wouldn't have shown you that- he would have made a snow cave and sat their for 7 days.
I like both, I just think that maybe Les' is more of "common sense" type survival, whereas Bear shows you more of what to do in a life or death situation if it comes down to it.
