Hey great - that's awesome - I've come to realize that girls who hunt are kind of rare - this is my first season - I met someone last summer who taught me to shoot and now is teaching me to hunt - I actually got a deer with a bow the day after Christmas - we had to crawl through the mud and weeds to get close enough to it - then he had me slowly sit up and come to full draw - then he made a noise, the doe stood up and I got it. I'm not old enough to hunt alone, but I really don't want to because I wouldn't know what to do. I'm learning though. You should have seen me after that hunt, covered with mud, burrs in my hair, but I did it. He forgot to bring the digital camera and the weather was warm, so we took the deer right to the processor and didn't get any pictures. He's going to take me out scouting so I can go out by myself if I have to but I hope I don't have to. We're trying to decide if we should apply for turkey permits for Spring. We have to check the dates to see if he will have time. Okay, so I went on and on. I tend to do that. I'm sorry.

Please don't think I'm rude, but I've been absolutely forbidden to give out too much detailed information.

Girls who hunt really are rare, you're right--people just assume its a guy thing! I always hunt with other people too. Going out on my own I'd feel totally lost. not even counting the fact that I wouldn't have transportation or anything (The areas I hunt in are a few hours away from where I live). My first deer was so memorable because we weren't even thinking about it--we had gotten distracted by something or other and I looked up and there's a deer crossing the road, so I had a sort of inner panic attack, pulled myself together and just shot! I didn't even think about it until after I'd done it and I was in shock. But it was a good day.

>.< And don't worry about rambling. when I see someone else do it, I do it too. Obviously.

Congrats on your first deer! I've never gone turkey hunting, but if you do, good luck!

This hunting and shooting is a real riot. I just started last summer like I said. He's not my real father. I sort of adopted him. (I don't know who my natural father is.) But he has taught me how to shoot guns and bow. The only problem is that he's really busy and we don't get to do it a lot. I hang out at his house and use his computer. Don't have one at home. I get to target practice a lot and we're going to start rabbit hunting real soon.

If someone had told me a year ago that shooting guns and bows and hunting was this much fun I would have probably thought they were a little weird. But now I get so excited when he asks me like if I want to go rabbit hunting Saturday. Which we're going to do. He says it'll be tough without a dog, but the snow will make it easy to find out where they are. Yaay, we're going to apply for our turkey permits tomorrow. He still has to decide what I'm going to use for a gun.

Better late then never. My mom didn't like hunting at all before her and my dad got married so afterwards she started so she was about...23 I think. Sad to say she doesn't hunt anymore because she is almost 60 now and has a bad left knee
