The real man takes the doe. In real life the doe is a better more wiser choice. To control the population and to manage the deer heard.
Any hunter that thinks it is a less of a man to take a doe isn;t a hunter but a killer. trophy hunting is good but not in all cases. I also want to remind you that YOU CAN"T EAT THE ANTLERS. i am a very avid throphy hunter untill the later season. theni am a manger ofthe heard by taking a doe. just my opinion though.

ahunter; I think you have those feelings because it is illegal to shoot a doe in california. We have crappy hunting laws here. Every state it is legal to shoot doe's. Most of the people, if not all of them, hunt doe for the meat. I don't have a problem with that at all, and IMO hunting a doe can be just as difficult as hunting a buck. Remember, you still have to get within shooting distance. That is a challenge for anyone.

I think what ahunter is forgetting is the sport of deer hunting and deer management. In order to properly control the deer herds we must not only take young bucks, and mature bucks, we must also take the does, even if we do not want to. I'm not saying your first few days out to take a doe, I usually hunt the bucks just before the gun deer season here in Wisconsin then if a nice mature doe comes along and offers me a shot I'll take it with out a second thought, because when the guns start firing, after the gun deer season there aint too many bucks or does around. Again there's that deer management that I have mentioned in the past. To be totally truthful any man that is a man if he or she is offered a shot at a nice doe in the late season and takes a doe is one of my best friends. I think ahunter is a little jealous, maybe thats all he is seeing is does and he is not aloud to take a doe, only he will reveal the truth. remember deer hunting is a sport not a competition, remeber that ahunter!!!!!!!!!!

You all need to remember that if ahunter doesn't want to shoot does, he doesn't have to. If we all want to shoot does, we can. Shooting a doe is not cheating, not shooting a doe is not cheating. We all have different ideas and methods of hunting, let it be. We're all "hunters." Let's not bash, accept each other's ideas, and not call anyone, "wrong", "cheap", or tell anyone to "shut up." Cmon guys, we're all on the same side.

Good luck hunting!
