This thread is kind of odd. IMO, meeting girls over the internet is just proof of a guys lack of social skills in his real life. Internet relationships are not real. There is no interaction like there is in a normal relationship. I'm not telling anyone what to do because quite frankly, I could care less, but again, thats just my 2 cents.

I think using the internet or specific website with the sole intent of hooking up with someone, is not only a bad idea...it could be dangerous. In other words, I think it's stupid.

Just my opinion.

i agree with PA, but in certain situations i think it'd be different... I talk to a lot of people online that I have never met in person, but they are mutual friends... now as far as dating somebody online I wouldn't be up for, but that is just me...

I dont think its really dating anyways, its just talking online. Sometimes, more provacative than others. You want to go meet someone you met online, go for it. But, if its a fat 40 year old she-male, thats another problem. Its not like you can go to a coffee shop, or eat dinner, or go to a movie while you're both online, however far away.

As for hooks up. I've met some great people in here in the bbs, some in which i consider close dear friends. As for the whole internet dating thing, honestly, i guess it would really depend on distance, communication, so on and so forth. Majority of the time it wouldn't work out but there has been cases in which it has so i'm not going to say it wouldn't or would work out, it is possible is all i'll say :)

Well, I don't know if anyone else actually went through the online dating thing, but I did. I meet her on this board actually (won't mention her name). We just started talking at first, then she asked me if I wanted to be her boyfriend, I thought, SCORE, a chick who hunts, fishes and likes good music (LED ZEPPELIN RULES!!!) I was on top of the world, I had a girlfriend, and we actually went for a couple months. Then trouble started, like people hacking into her account and then sending me an email saying that she wanted to break up with me :(But I couldn't do anything because, she wasn't even close to me, didn't have her phone #.I was devestated, I kinda went into a sulk, wasn't enjoyin anything, it was bad. Then she emailed me and told me what happened. Then she said sinceitmight happen again, she said maybe we should just be friends. I was cool with that, so it was all good again. Looking back on it, I kinda felt like I was missing something, like just cuddling, hanging out, you know, stuff like that. So if you think I was just "rambling on"(anyone get it??), that's your own descision. But I think that if she's like an hour or two away, it could work cause there's weekends and stuff. But farther than that, I really honestly that now that I've experienced it, I dunno, your choice.

Is it just me, or is internet dating just an evolved form of "for a good time call *insert name here* that you always see on the bathroom walls?

Talking to people is fine on the internet. Talking to the same people on the phone is fine. But there really is no such thing as "dating" online. Online acquintances perhaps. If you havent physically held the girl's hand, your not dating her.

I'm not gonna tell retriever what to do, cuz frankly, its none of my business and I personally dont care, but be careful online. A 14 year old girl that was my neighbor met up with a "15 year old boy" online, who turned out to be about 50, and she was never seen alive again.
