100grains or 125grains
Should I shoot 100 or 125. My bow shoots around 210-220 fps and it set at 43lbs.
What shopuld I shoot.I am mainly hunting whitetail deer. The arrows sre Beamen ventures 500. |
RE: 100grains or 125grains
i really have no idea what is better i use 125 but my bow is set at 65lb so i think that is would be better to use 100 and i have heard that 100 is good for deer but i have only been bow hunting like 3 times and i dont know anyone that does i just picked 125 u should talk to a person whereever u are buying them and they would be able to tell u what is bettewr

RE: 100grains or 125grains
Buy a package of both, see which shoots better through your equipment.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
I may be the wrong person to ask,
but i believe on the lighter poundage such as your 43#, it is best to go with the 100grain, lighter poundage usually have lighter arrows, and a heavier 125gr may cause too much flex during flight, but like the other guy stated not a bad idea to try both, dont want to spend the money on broadheads, pickup some fieldpoints and try it out, |
RE: 100grains or 125grains
I'd go with the 100 but I think whatever you think flies more true to you. That is what i did when i was choosing what type of broadheads. I go after squrriel and rabbits with mechanicals.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
What are the specs of your bow and what size arrows do you shoot? If you are overspined then you should pick the 125 grain heads.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
Im with Zak, we need to know arrow and bow specs. More than likely, 100 grain will fly better. Even better, try and find some 75 grain muzzys or something along the lines of a lighter head. Im assuming with 43 lbs. of weight, you're going to need the lighter head cause otherwise your FOC will be off.

RE: 100grains or 125grains
i shoot 100's. you get more speed, and with your poundage id say theyd be best. just my opinion
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
I would go with the 100 grain because you will get better speed and distance with them. I work at a archery shop so there is my 2 cents worth take for what it is worth.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
85 gr. Thunderheads. 125s or 100s are gonna bounce ur arrows and you wont be able to tune it to save your life. :D
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
Go with 100gr at that weight and speed you need the extra velocity to keep the arrow falling off at longer distances.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
100, the lighter the better, my bow goes 315 fps.

RE: 100grains or 125grains
how heavy is your arrow and I will figure how much kinetic engery is with the 100 and 125's.

My dislike of crossbows in the hands of able bodied people is well known, I've got no problem admitting it here or anywhere else.

CC |
RE: 100grains or 125grains
I don't have a problem with them as long as they are not used during archery season.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
i wouldnt go with either a 100 of 125 grain i would go with like a 85 grain broadhead. i mean 210 fps is enough to kill a deer but IMO its cutting it close so i would go with a 85 grain and would maybe get some more fps.
and as for the crossbow comment.....................agreed[8D] ORIGINAL: zak123 I don't have a problem with them as long as they are not used during archery season. |

RE: 100grains or 125grains
The past 2 years I have been shooting 100 grains but I'm thinking about switching to 125 before this year. You can get wider cutting broadheads and for the most part they seem a little easier to find than the 100's. The 100's will kill a deer just as good as a 125 so it's your personal preferance.

RE: 100grains or 125grains
i shoot 75/85's. i feel like an oddball for shooting such a low tip weight, but who cares? i get alot of weird looks from other hunters who shoot 100's. I figure as long as my bow is shooting straight and fast and the arrows are spined right, its all good.
|
RE: 100grains or 125grains
With velocities like that I wouldnt even think about using anything over 90gr. Its just too slow to use anything heavy like that. Your trajectory will be like throwin a boulder.
I'd go with a 75 or 85gr Muzzy |
RE: 100grains or 125grains
Lil, you need to give us your specs before we can really help you out. If you are shooting low KE then I would suggest the Stingers.
